Jon Johnston is a natural history cinematographer based in Missoula, Montana with a BS in Wildlife Biology from Humboldt State University. He is a dedicated naturalist who has spent years developing an extensive knowledge of natural history and wildlife behaviors, as well as honing field skills such as wildlife tracking. In 2019, Jon began working in blue-chip natural history films using wildlife tracking and specialized remote cameras to capture imagery of secretive wildlife. Since then, Jon has worked closely alongside award winning cinematographers Dawson Dunning, John Shier, and Rick Rosenthal to film natural history sequences all over the world. Jon is a long lens camera operator, FAA certified drone pilot, and specialist of Cognisys remote camera systems.
